Speedos and Irreverence

Speedos and Irreverence

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Speedos and Irreverence

poems of composure
a rattled rhyme or two
settles down in slant,
then pause
then silent pondering
assonance, but not excessive
consonance but in blunted force

whittled down lines and stanzas
words regrouped
spacing a matter
of mind over
contract to write form

I feel free, suddenly
ridiculed for ranting
I am off the deep end
of a line

it's white
I don't care if I am in violation
I'll test the waters
dip my vowels
into a stagnant pond of mayhem

join a symposium
on writing Real Poetry
fall asleep to the hum drum sound
wake in a dream
with a really fast typewriter
that thinks faster than I ever could

and hope the poems composed
read--- real good.

Ooh! No way I'd trust a type writer that thinks faster then I do. That's I, Robot territory. "You're a better man than I am, Gunga Din."

Maybe it would be like trusting one of those cars that parallel parks on its own?
I love the pace of this poem, makes me want to kick a*s and write on. Almost like a stimulus package, a rocky movie theme just has that underlying energy. Love it.

Hot damn, Jacob.

You know, when I was about twenty my circle of friends used to snap all their fingers when somebody produced something good - be it music, art or the written word. I've just got the one hand, but I'm snapping my fingers over here.

Cheers, J.
