To quote an Arabic proverb, "It's better to be a living dog than a dead lion." Solomon quoted it in Ecclesiastes 9:4 as well. I dare say a lion skin would make a much better rug but I'd feel safer petting the dog. I will foretell your future and say you shall live to be a hundred and write your own epitaph at 99 after receiving the Nobel Prize for poetry. ;)

Haha... Even with its grim premise, this poem speaks for many writers who feel neglected, which includes most of us, at one time or another. We like to dream of fame after death when not achieved in life. It's probably true of those who 'expose' themselves in any profession. I hope you're getting what you need to continue writing, even it it's a personal drive that won't go away. Rather like an itch. You should have something like that to keep you going during spells of 'attention-drought'. I like your work very much and always want to see more once I start reading it!

Made me ponder something I've thought often. What would artists who centuries later are icons and works sell for millions, think of the future's obsession with them. Like the Warhol that just sold. And how many at the time of their death thought of the future where they exist larger than life. And how often somebody did fake their death. I'm sure it's happened.

Since it is becoming obvious to me that the shuffling off the mortal coil things is unavoidable, I plan on being huge after the fact. If there's any justice, you will be much bigger than yours truly.
