Poem 3,489 expiration dates and such

I think I will fake my death

then, I surmise

I will become a famous poet

until I wake from the charade

and find

no one has actually read a word.

dead dead dead

read read read

Not.

To quote an Arabic proverb, "It's better to be a living dog than a dead lion." Solomon quoted it in Ecclesiastes 9:4 as well. I dare say a lion skin would make a much better rug but I'd feel safer petting the dog. I will foretell your future and say you shall live to be a hundred and write your own epitaph at 99 after receiving the Nobel Prize for poetry. ;)

Well death seems to focus attention. If you fake it perhaps you'll get more :)) There are so many poems that don't get responses on this forum. Many reads but few reviews. That's where you took me J. Oh, and this poem did make me smile big time :)

This gave me a chuckle, but there are deep meaning in your words, actually many deep meanings.

thank you, Cowboy.

Kind of reminds me of what it's like to drop a poem here before bedtime only to wake next morning and find no one has left any review. Being unreviewed or unread sure makes the writing spirit fall down dead. But the minute we give up......a review drops in the box. Maybe there is always hope for the living poet. 💛
