the Saint's Rhetoric or the Cult's Closed eye

the Saint's Rhetoric or the Cult's Closed eye

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the Saint's Rhetoric or the Cult's Closed eye

thunder benders

the poet is at it again

twice the legal limit

but driving the keys

all over a road of blues

they will toast him in the morning

as he sits in a jail of disinterest

in life, in people, in credibility

a martyr in his own mind

but there are those willing to pay his bail

read all his works

with reverence that

is all over the map

no abusive roads closed

he just detours civility

and keeps writing

his mess

until he gets pulled over

again.

You know J, I kept thinking Bukowski. He was an uncivil drunkard and I never rated his poetry myself. Seem to remember you thinking the same unless there's another one up your sleeve. Happy Saturday dear friend.

Not until I read John's review did I fully understand. Seems you have been getting away with it for years Jacob and long may it continue :)
Hope all is well in the land of the free

The poet as chronic drunk driver. Interesting concept. Of course, the drunk can stop if he wants to. The poet can't.
