still bound to a dream

still bound to a dream

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

.

still bound to a dream
resting my head on the old book
osmosis
prints the story in my head
pages turn between my ears
I hear you leaving over and over again
your screams insist
a fateful May
the theme erased a character
the author is still crying
but his tears cannot douse the fire
of remembrance
and your picture rests on the back cover
face up
as he continues to type the sequel
in between tears.

Your metaphoric reference to a broken heart that won't heal is superb. I really love that last verse.

thank you so much, Dale,
j.
Try and do that with a Kindle ... old books and old stories can be read by osmosis ... "into your mind they will creep"
The effect can be as troubling as that picture that never ages on the back of that book ... the sequel written in tears.

Like this j.

I hear Buffalo Springfield...thank you, Ted,

" I was alright, for awhile, for awhile I could smile..." from "Crying" by Roy Orbison

Thoughts assimilated from experiences accumulated sometimes need swept from the attic before dust starts drifting from the ceiling of our dreams.

Yeah, I love his music. He was a great singer and guitarist.
