a flash of gold

a flash of gold

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a flash of gold

A small

                 cold pond

itchy fingers and toes crawl

into another dimension

fear rises from the murky depths

a fear of love represents

the koi rose to the surface....

looked on

i?

relegated to watch

from a shore

                              of

distant

                                feeling.

The Golden Age of Poetry... you have the Key to longevity... Beware the Mermaid below.. She will steal your Heart and then your "flash of Gold"... if the ending be told in the Deep Sleep. Amen... Pat

oh wow, great imagery hon, loved every moment of it.
The lake, so grand, and bare toes,
very morbid,

of course, honey, 😋
The koi is coy! In our wanderings, amongst them Japanese ponds in Japanese gardens... the pace and the ambience suits the mood, but then again then texture of murkiness and algae and such serves to provide a distance as well. A wonderfully textured image poem! Thanks for sharing.

Old age made me wander to place, that can't be found no-more Jacob. I liked how you made the reader think and look for things. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

You are welcome, Jacob.
Being on the shore of distant feeling is an unpleasant place to be. If you fear love and are afraid to love there is a whole lot missing in life. I found this poem to be a sad one J.

You either dive in or weigh up the pros and cons which brings hesitancy.

Fear is a bit like itchy fingers I suppose. No good or fun. Enjoyed the playful perspective of this piece though

Fear leads so many. What a overwhelming place to be. Where only the koi rose🌹sees. Haunting and sad.
