we are the world of laughter

we are the world of laughter

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

we are the world of laughter

bird in the grass

cat's paw

the rats live in the house

untouched

the assembly is a Looney Tunes

cartoon caricatures

stalk, pounce

next frame

an empty room

fear of the hound

scattered feathers

hissing lunatics

the cheese stolen

a quiet caption

humanity dries like an empty pen

a comic strip life

drawn to an end.

Made me think of comics as poems. Brief captions that tell a story, broken up by the art as stanza breaks. Talking heads think they're superheroes.

seems the greatness of our American heritage (good, bad and indifferent; yet still one of greatness on the world stage) has fallen to new lows every day ... i can click off all the reasons but it has become tedious and almost boring were it not so sad .. it hurts to be thought of as cartoon characters with no more substance than Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny ... there is a sadness sweeping in .. surely both "sides" feel it .. a desperation and as your closing line puts it "drawn to an end" (love the play on words there sir .. today is predicted sunny here in the Ozarks .. perhaps i'll mow the yard .. put all my woah into forgetfulness for a bit ;)

yeah ..i think they may sir! :)))))))))))))))
the assembly is a Looney Tunes. You brought me the House of Commons which I sometimes tune in to on TV. The behaviour and disrespectful back stabbing akin to cartoon characters. They are the world of laughter while we watch on. The sad thing is, they think they know best.
