A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

poems in alternate dimension

perhaps i should write
about butterflies
and butter pies
and random hearts aflutter
with nutter an absolute intention

rather than of broken down, condemned
relationships,
suicides in dark corners of wretched minds
casualties of war and sin
and the atrocities therein

perhaps i should write
of new beginnings
saying goodbye to bad endings
of flights of fancy
and eternal flames
not names on the register
of a hotel of hard knocks
windows with spider cracks

a web of covert deceit
of protests on avenues
splattered with blood
casualities of war and sin

perhaps i should write
of kisses sweet
of love discreet
not of detainment
or arraignment

of lust for flowery description
not intricate deception

perhaps  i should write of you
when the stars were right
and we were beacons
of love in naive
perception

who has to know any better?

A poet is bound to gravitate to the darker side. I believe darkness to a certain extent adds depth to words. I loved all your suggestions here. There is so much promise here.

windows with spider cracks

These lines blew me away!

I don't know, DIVYA....it still puzzles me in 41 years of writing poetry why it is so hard to write .. read more

I must come across as one of the most miserable writers here:)
Apologies for interrupting
The fact that you mention all these atrocities that you might or should write about only makes me think that they are disturbing to you; and you are asking yourself if these are worth writing about; or should you just write about sweet kisses..."a lust for flowery description"..I think you are questioning yourself and perhaps coming to the conclusion that you should write about simple love when you were naive; nobody will even know about the other notions. Whew, this is packed with a lot of heart-wrenching stuff... but as always you craft it so well J.
Best, B

You’re very welcome J
Reading this writing is like listening to a beautiful piano piece - is pulls the heartstrings and makes one feel and question truths. Perhaps it matters not about what we write, it matter that we write....Beautiful piece my friend, some food for soul, this one.
