the bums become

President

of a nuclear wasteland

preaching from cardboard dais

"this is how it's gonna be, people"

 

quarters for bottles of wine

cigarettes

and a congress filled with bins

of stalemated bills----

run away from what you owe

it is time for a change

 

get off my corner

i'm panhandling here

we cannot all sleep under 

the same old coat

the patches don't match

with what seams real.

There's much sabre rattling coming from the Kremlin and other quarters.. If it goes nuclear there won't be anything left. It will all be wasteland. End of. Now there's a thought to contemplate. All sides know what the stakes are.

The irony in this one is so thick you could cut it with a knife. If anyone survives WW3 it will be roaches and bums. Of course, some of the bums will be politicians. Actually, that won't be a change at all.
