A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

at the scene

sentimentality is a cruel pen

bleeding blue

upon fields of white chalked outlines

of hearts

that courageously endeavored

in the name

of love.

no sides,

just love.

"courageously endeavored

I love these lines so much! The ending two lines are especially powerful for me.

You're welcome
Excellent Work - I like very much the Colour contrasts and the pared down nature of this piece.

I have always laughed, it has kept me alive.
thank you, Pat,

I saw the outline of white hearts in much the way you see the outline of corpses where there has been a crime scene. Each heart represented a love affair that didn't last. Really creative poetry here J which impacts the reader. I felt much sadness here.

thank you for your kind review, Chris,

but Jacob, isn't 'love' a sentiment??? though chalked outlines evoke more sadness, even frustration and distain, but these too are sentiments... perhaps the someone who caused these fields of chalk outlines, must have great hatred.... also a sentiment.... and in all of these 'sentiments' isn't it impossible to have "no sides"??? except where both sides are guilty in creating this horror.... as I read your poem Jacob it wasn't blue I saw flowing from the pen, but red and way too much of it shed....
