I wonder how much you would get to have someone burn the old house down and get the insurance money from it? Just a thought. Buy a new home with bigger windows. LOL. Kidding. Love the metaphors as always. You make it seem effortless. Enjoyed this!
It takes two to save a relationship. Clever metaphor for this relationship. One person can make all the changes they want but, if the other person isn’t interested, there’s nothing to save. Great write as always. T
Well never say never says I. What's more somethings work out better second time round. It has been known for people to remarry their ex spouse:)) Just a bit of breaking walls down. It can be done J.
love the house metaphor Jacob.... the world changes, we change and the relationship we have with the one we love also changes or we find ourselves homeless or living in a crumbling house.... too often, we fail in a relationship because we are either unable to change or refuse to change and so a new addition or wallpaper does not help.... as the old saying goes, a fresh coat of paint on and outhouse still makes it an outhouse....
here's hoping the house was saved and livable Jacob after the renovations.....

Like the fellow said, hope springs eternal. Has the sound of one desirous of resurrecting something that had previously died, believing the old snags can be ironed out to allow new vistas to open. May it be so. Sometimes things can be better the second time around.
I get from this a strong feeling of letting the right person redefine your sense of completion. One of the most striking lines to me describes letting this person "molt those old causes". A lot of people, myself included, have found great meaning, and even personal fulfillment, in causes. To some, they even seem like the most important elements of life. To have your own personal meaning pale in comparison to the meaning offered by a relationship... it's a nice thought. Beautiful piece as always.
Add on another Wing to our relationship… and keep the House… my Favorite. Reminds me of the Movie with Cary Grant .. Mr. Blandings Dream House”…. So Romantic. gently, Pat

Excellent! This poem would make me want to try again if one wrote it to me, if only it was that easy everyone would be a poet, wouldn’t that be nice? You make it look easy and I know it’s not :)
