innocent hands

innocent hands

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

innocent hands

endings play in the sand

building ephemeral castles

that expire with the first rush of tide

if only beginnings could slow

so that endings arrived with less haste

maybe the castles would have time

to be furnished

with love.

Those love castles swiftly
washed away with the
rush of a first tide dampens
the effort and spirit but still
we try again to rebuild

Nice work

"Look, a golden-winged ship is passing my way...And it really didn't have to stop"..Hendrix.
Our oceans of time are mere droplets, the sound of now, passing, but its experience lingers like a wish we'll never know. You make us think sir...you do make us think.

thank you, kind Sir,

I learned at a very early age that building castles out of sand to all day perfection can be lost in moments when the tide sweeps in. It didn't stop me building castles. I love this poem J because there is a ton of sand in it. So much to think about.

glad you kept building them, Chris,
j.
Always good with the metaphors. Hope you don't talk that way. Might be interesting though. LOL Just playing. I hope to build my next sandcastle somewhere in a sheltered cove. Maybe it'll last longer. I like how this poem says so much. Another great one, J.
