A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

.

anniversary
a moving van of secrets
unpacked all at once
am i to be the house in which they reside
we talk of extremes
of money for what we do out of love
and somewhere along the line
we fell out of love
that kind anyway
yet the stronger scent of us
still lingers
in slight touches, smiles
glances full of what once was
it is a many day move
and then the old house is up for sale
the old blankets
and bed sheets
and the bodies once touching
find a new place to reside
far away from each other
yet so damn close
we can still feel each other's breath.

This is some of your best writing, Jacob. I get the sense of the natural separation that occurs over time, the change from a physical relationship to more of a comfortable connection that is indeed a change of address.

Thank you for your kind words, Winston.

It's nice to stay friends with ex partners, but I think alot of water has to go under the bridge before you achieve that. There is clearly something still there, there is a closeness that's for sure. Love but a different type of love. I like this one alot J.
