Tale

Tale

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Tale

i just made you up

a fable,

brought to the table

of fabrication

imagination

forensics

display no proof

of your existence

in my heart

it is all circumstantial

insistence

and i am guilty

but will never be convicted

of persistence

loving you

then being evicted

when Aesop's tale

came to a fractured ending

sans resistance.

We were all indoctrinated as kids with fairy tales and I truly thought life was gonna be one big ring a rosy.
As adults we realised as we started the nine to five whole Gambit of things it surely wasn’t a rosy ring but I used to read them daily as a kid maybe if we’d been given more realistic life stories it may not of been a bigger shock to us but then we may not of slept so peacefully dreaming at night of the goldilocks and three bears but one fairy tale I had nightmares of was definitely being cooked in an oven by some witch and as an adult I cannot recall that nursery rhyme what was it ? Maybe I blocked it out !! There was always good and evil in them
Liked your poem Jacob though I think I’ve rambled a tad sorry 😢 !

Haven't we all fallen in love with a story, a fable of our own design or another's words. It's a great subject, just dripping with poetic sensibilities and you did it justice here. I like poems which have ambitious rhyme schemes or perhaps just cast aside formal rhyme and meter in favor of expression, it shows that great thought went into these lines. This was well polished and a delightful read.
