in your stirrups

in your stirrups

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

in your stirrups

saddle sore blues

a long ride to nowhere good

I loved you on the trail

and trailing

getting further behind

your heart with

each beat of the prancing feet

of my poem

I pull into the stable

with unstable emotions

galloping even as I

stand firm

inert eyes

fixated deeply on nothing

and that old country song blazing

on the transistor

God, I hate country music today.

Dear Jacob... I think of the song, Bo Jangles... The first time I went Riding we had a Guide who was a singer also... and his horse rode in a Gallop and so did mine... and my Saddle fell off and saved the day for me in more ways than one. I appreciate your Candor. gently, Pat

That's a nice bit of disjunction in the last line. A deceptive and excellent way to gently close the door on this write. Well done.

Somehow I think this dame took you for a ride to nowhere dear J. When I thought of country, John Denver came to mind. Annie's song. I think he penned beautiful lyrics. You love like he sings. So from the heart.

HA!HA! wonderful write, use to hate the old country music where they sing of the pain of life. All it did was depress me. Good flow ;-}
