I feel this one is about the flag of the US and its Eagle. The metallic frame can refer to the flagpole. Now, next to the next winged event of this country.
An excellent one sir Jacob...

I just love that interpretation...thanks so much for your thoughtful review, Sami,

What a wonderful nature write. And isn't it hard to get the wildlife to pose? (smile) How did John J. Audubon do it? He must have had an eidetic memory!

Yes, John J. was pretty talented.

Beautifully visual. Thank goodness there will be more sunsets and more avian friends.. This poem appears to be sad, but I see hope in it. Quite lovely.
"Peruse", hmm, haven't seen that word in a while. And, as you usually do, it is well placed for the vision. Thanks, Jacob, for the relaxing and visual read.
it's fun, bird watching, especially when it seems they are talking to you, telling you the secrets of a passing day... there's a life/death/life feel to this poem Jacob and perhaps my mind has gone off again, caught in one of your metaphors, but it doesn't matter does it?? as this wondering/wandering is part of what makes art, art and good art at that... nicely done Jacob....

Now you are talking, brother. This is truly outstanding work, J. The set up isn't overly overly, and the similes and metaphors work beautifully. This has the feeling of Chinese poetry translated by Pound, if not written by Pound or T.S. Elliot, or Hulme. I find this engaging, easy to read, understandable without be overly simplistic, totally absorbing.
Congratulation, Jacob!
dearest Jacob…. I adore Indigo Buntings… and have included them in a poem or two… Your first verse is Extraordinaire… giving you those “nestful looks”. The somber blue coloring… feathers absorb the light. I am swept into a “Winged Event”…. catching a blue feather with sadness at Sunset. tenderly, Pat
