Surreal Hypocrisy

Surreal Hypocrisy

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Surreal Hypocrisy

eclipse,
time elapsed
a darkness moved across America

then denial,
no trial
just inferences
from references

to an inert,
inept,
inadequate
depreciation of the art
of democracy

the sun uncovered
gives us back
light
that

might not have been there
in the first place.

They never listen to us, do they? Our voices aren't heard, so why not break out the pen? I suppose it's more production to appeal to people than to our leaders.

Dear Jacob,
Thank you for this touching piece.
I’m not too certain about which incident you were implying in this poem, but I associated it with the death sentences on four dissidents in Burma over the last week.
I Like your second stanza: Trial without evidence but inferences. I feel your anguish in this piece.
Your friend,
Louisa
