for lynne

for lynne

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

for lynne

and life twists and turns

while the clock is a cloak

of mutual respect,

and age finds its tick-tock trend

continues,

and we salute another year

but remember well the past ones

that counted the moments in fervor

from the cradle to the ladle

a soup of sorts

a wedding soup,

a chicken noodle soup for the soul

in sickness

flowers on the wall

in her hair

in the air

the scent of bells

the wailing against the war

the familiar sounds of children

with birthdays and Mother's Days

and just days of love,

and yet another turns the corner

like a beloved car

that has always understood

new roads lie ahead,

and old roads

are the treasured memories

that idle gracefully

on this day.

This is an excellent poem!!! Wow! Let me go read that again ... Man, that was smooth to read. Made me think without having to think. We have to respect our years. Admire them as the chrome reflects our tears. Wave at them as they drive by to our cheers. Relax, knowing time will ease our fears. Inspiring poem erin-cilberto!

Good morning Jacob,
Yours is the first poem I am reading early this hot morning in Spain.
I do not know why your poem made me cry ... The emotion in your words spilled off the page and into my heart.
I especially like d the lines
"and yet another turns the corner
like a beloved car
that has always understood
new roads lie ahead,
and old roads
are the treasured memories
that idle gracefully
on this day."
Yes, this is life as we all plod along .. and memories are what we have.
