A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

a relevant closeness

binging on blue sky

azure cocktail

drunk on fall's foliage

i will happily pass out

within the leaves

of the leaving

because that is

what the turning

expects

of us.

"azure cocktail," the leaves/of the leaving" - such great phrases!
This poem reminds me of Diane Ackerman's essay titled "Why Leaves Turn Color." Both your poem and the essay give voice to the breathless excitement over gettig "drunk on fall's foilage," and they both do it very well.

thank you for your kind review, Laz,

The time clock and the feeling here of watching it all go by, in fall, which I know is your favourite season and possibly has you in a mood of reflection. Very nice, calming and imagery laden too J.

A lovely poem I liked the feeling of watching time pass while quenching one’s thirst/thoughts.

Cocktail hour's come early for you Jacob. Leaves here still off primping in the bathroom for their big finale.

Like the minimalist approach of the poem.
looking forward to more

your welcome. and if you beat me to using it somehow, good on you
Sometimes the simplest is the most successful and this one exemplifies that truism. A lovely work, Jacob. If you want some primo azure drink in some Sante Fe. You will not be disappointed.
