an unsafe crosswalk (for Ted Hughes)

gnarly fingers of fictious love

wrap around a pedestrian heart

about to be run over

by a Mack Truck artist

who has lost his license

but still drives others suicidal

with his blindside operation

of a vehicle he only pretends to own

since he is of indifferent coincidence

and timing

to her life,

and her life

and...

I didn't know about Ted Hughes as a Persian and I searched about him and understood that he was a Poet Laureate. That says very much about him. His sad love stories breaks everyone's heart.
You said of Mack Trucks and many memories of mine were remembered. I had a friend that his father had a Mack. The model of truck was for before 1979. It was fancy
Thanks for this poem about Ted. Nice work as always!
Wish you the best

Yes, a great poet, but as a man...suspect.
thank you, Nima,

Oh oh have I opened a can of worms so to speak? Nice poem Jacob, and thanks for the tip of the cap.
Won't speak to the issue of Ted, or not much anyhow. Learned long ago how polarizing a figure he is. In poet circles maybe only 2nd to one of my other favorite villains of life the crusty old Mr Pound.

As to the poem, like I say its an honest one, which is all any reader can ask of a poet. The one line that I absolutely adore is by a Mack Truck artist/who lost his license/but still drove others to suicide

that is poetry in motion my friend

Yes, it beggars belief...
I like how you put that.
thanks, Katrina,

Careless Ted. To lose one partner to suicide is unfortunate, but to lose two and in the same manner beggars belief. Cuts to the quick J.

Oh my Jacob, this is quite a chilling tale of those crazy drivers...and, there are so so many...
You always have such a confident way of writing your meaningful words...
I always need to go back several times to reread your poems because...well, I guess I want to remember them... The feelings they give me actually stays with me for rather along time.
And, the was you ended it... was so perfect and yes, so terribly sad.
