disassociation

disassociation

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

disassociation

spoke in wine song

a sip of serene verse

mellow metaphor

approaching balance

but not quite,

tip the bottle once more

and conjugate poetic verbs

to test

congruence

to verify having loved that hard

a past lies at the bottom of the bottle

a future is corked, unwilling to spill

insensitive to the slurring

we recite

incite

stopping insistently

with too many periods

short lines are

much

easier

to

remember

Easy to remember... the love in your eyes... the Blue of a Robin egg ...
the smell a Rose. a Caterpillar emerges as a Butterfly... all is well until
the next Storm.... Pat

Hangovers, do overs, recites, rewrites and incoherent babbling, all from a half-empty bottle. There ain't no future in a bottle and you can't drown the past. I saw someone put a ship in one once but it never sailed anywhere. Maybe they might be good for putting a note in if you're stranded on a desert island but you'd be forced to pour out the contents first. "If I only had a dollar for every song I've sung, for every time I had to play while people sat there, drunk..." Creedence from Lodi

Ah, Lodi..B side of Bad Moon Rising...and a better song .. read more

I have spoken in fluent wine-song myself, along with beer-song, bourbon-song, vodka-song, but I've totally forgotten every word of tequila-song and the night I learned it.
