This one caused the realization in me that the politics of the world (and especial the US) have become like a medieval morality play, where there are only two sides: good vs. evil. The first stanza brings this truth home powerfully: If you vote for those people, you don't love Jesus. Further down, there is reference to "gods in high places." I think some politicians do have god complexes, the result of tasting power. It would indeed be reassuring to see unity in the cause of accomplishment, but I wouldn't bet the milk money on it. Really, a longer poem is not necessary. This one alone is enough to make me want another glass of merlot.
Sadly, all too often, it is a matter of Script whose plot is covertly designed and orchestrated upon Scripture that the very authors who write it fail miserably to live by ... Excellent piece of Poetry ...

I best believe in minding the gap between what is to be noticed and what to leave out. Authority is something that i leave out cause I know its not my place to correct them also I know I don't have the power to. I also believe that good always prevails. Whatever we are made of, we return to the same.

We have the same problems in the UK. Polarised politics. It is so destructive, nothing gets done. The opposition can only criticise, they can't produce any positive alternatives, they just blast everything the government tries to do. It's a mess. And sadly the citizens of our country are no longer a priority. Everyone else who gets here is. Free everything for them. Cotton wool politicians.
The Power of Evil vs. Good… it seems that the Countries that the Immigrants come from should have the Resources and opportunities in their own Country. When all our Resources are gone… we will be Over-populated with no money… What happened to our Checks and Balances .. not to mention our Brilliant Brains. sadly, Pat

Alas, they are so lost...the brains.
thank you, Pat,

I might also add that a great poem says just enough and no more. So, too, does a great country take care of its citizens-just enough for equality and opportunity for all, and a minimum standard of living guaranteed to everyone.

Talk about a battle for the soul of America from a politician is an oxymoron, probably from a common moron. We have "In God We Trust" printed on our money. We call ourselves a "Christian" nation.
"Therefore the Lord said:
“These people draw near to Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from Me. Their worship of Me is but rules taught by men.
Therefore I will again confound these people with wonder upon wonder.
The wisdom of the wise will vanish and the intellect of the intelligent will be hidden."
Woe to those who dig deep to hide their plans from the LORD.
In darkness they do their works and say, “Who sees us, and who will know?”
You have turned things upside down, as if the potter were regarded as clay.
Shall what is formed say to him who formed it, “He did not make me"?
Can the pottery say of the potter, “He has no understanding”? Isaiah 29:13-16
But there is no greater freedom or peace for me than knowing that God is in charge. I was looking at the deep field view of the Webb Space Telescope today and seeing the thousands upon thousands of galaxies in one small frame of empty space and smiling as I thought, The Lord God made and rules them all and so much more. That certainly puts the silly vanity of mankind in its proper perspective for me.
