another Sunday

another Sunday

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

another Sunday

intercepted glance

but then a fumbled reply

could have been a great play

but you passed me by

not faking the run

just moving on

your beauty scored with others

and i was left a small gratuity

this old grubby heart

and replays of missed opportunity.

Is it OK if I read this to myself in my best John Facenda voice?

Thank you, duff,

Very disappointing. Oh, don't mean your poem, J: I'm talking about missed opportunity. Interesting read.

Thank you, Ken...no, lost my shirt! :)))
Was that a disappointment Sunday or an oh well? Reminders of the past and another one bites the dust in the land of opportunity :)

I like that, Chris...not sure.

Or maybe there wasn't an opportunity in the first place, and we are only kidding ourselves. Either way, been in that game, fumbled, and benched by the coach.

I think I agree, many of us are, Winston.

This could be interpreted as a metaphor for life being short and passing by too quickly, but a less serious interpretation could be the feeling of seeing a cute face in the crowd while on a run or driving or at an airport and knowing you'll never see that perfect stranger again. In some other parallel universe, the two of you could have been friends, enemies or soul mates. But in this one, the replays of the missed opportunity would have to suffice your grubby old heart. :))

Hello Jacob and I do understand the meaning in the poetry. I have become a observer now of life. Don't bother anyone and I watch the world go by. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
