what color the glass

what color the glass

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

what color the glass

it's a sparse gathering

those who really loved him

shake the sand from between their toes

sandals relieved of ashes underfoot

a ripple on a lake

the last look they take

sun sets

over the fences

the ones that kept him

to himself

as his October

swims close to the surface

one last strike imminent

what an unique way of expressing the memory of a loved one that has passed on.

thank you, Dale,
j.
I have never quite thought about it that much though maybe I should and this could be a nice start...to be a ripple on the lake of someone's memories sounds like a very nice way to go. Nicely done.

thank you, will....
I am supposing it will be.

Burial not at sea but at pond or lake where the cabin sits fenced to keep in, not out. The old man of the sea meets lady of the lake - does the urn float or gurgle to the bottom?

Thank you, Andrew,

A sad goodbye to a dear one; the images are vivid....the glass could be the color of the calm sea, perhaps spreading ashes peacefully while the sun sets and reflects off the water; a private person with fences that shroud his privacy....the ashes sink to the bottom on a clear October day.
nostalgic....

Yes indeed!!! You're very welcome dear poet!

If my ashes were to be scattered after my death, I’d probably choose a sunset, there’s no prettier light to be remembered by.

thank you, duff. I appreciate your kind comment,
j.
All the words reflect a sprit gone like a sunset that fades on the surface.

Beautifully done, J.

Thank you, Tim,

This one has a funereal sound to it, as of a gathering of friends of one departed. The ashes and the sunset add to the effect. The last two verses are mysterious, but the sense is the same.
