Words

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Words

graphically violent

a heart torn to bits

by that hand grenade

from which you pulled the pin

as it rested on your tongue.

It is always why I measure and think before speaking. Because I know just how powerful words are and the repercussions that may come from them when spoken aloud. CLE

What was it Emily D. said?
"words have the power to heal but also the power to kill"---
Powerful and unlike anything else I've ever read..

:) my pleasure, you are very welcome.
And now your words have turned into graphic "KPOW! BIFF! AND SPLAT!" as my mind replays the overly camp 60's TV show version of Batman, while missing Saturday morning TV, as I sit on a Saturday morning in fear of turning on the TV in fear of hearing any news, or even worse... The weather report.
And those skintight leggings make my penguin onesie seem thoroughly appropriate attire for lounging around the house of a Saturday, but I am still wondering if I could get a lway with them for a christening later in the day.
Probably not though. It'll have to be the snowman onesie then. 😊

Words can really blast away a heart to nothingness. This was so good to read, dear Jacob!

Well said Jacob. The "Good Book" says that there is life and death in the power of the tongue. ~Sharon

Thank you for the kind words, WM

Felt so much pain in this one J. Words can hurt forever. There is so much power in what can spill out of the mouth in anger or even otherwise. I remember stuff I wish I didn’t. When it comes from someone close to us, it makes the pain greater. The heart remembers.
