what we earn from what we learn

what we earn from what we learn

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

what we earn from what we learn

a rather somber tune

but I'm exploding with laughter

my heart is numb to exasperation

the beat steady, till planted

the earth has standing room only

you sift through my freedom

I fly

into sky and water

the original cast

before the intrusion

of the players

God's experiment

if only we assumed the role

harboring more than just

an image;

then ashes

might tell a much better tale.

Thank you, Marve,

Drawn particularly to your fourth stanza J. These words I could apply easily to politicians. They may look the part but many of them are more interested in helping themselves rather than others. I have lost faith in our government completely. They could also apply to church leaders who would do better keeping their noses out of politics and concentrating on the teachings of Christ. I wandered to several scenarios here.

I get the feeling that this is about Society, in some capacity, whether it is about social justice, or something else.. maybe it is about people taking personal responsibility for themselves?? ..............

Somewhat enigmatic write.

Always happy to stop by and give you at least somewhat of a good review.
I love the duality of all of this!

Live and learn. Twist and turn. Love and burn. Our tales keep on producing more winners and victims. Some make it, some don't. Some are willing, some won't comply.
Marvelously penned.

You are welcome sir Jacob of Carbondale.
On face value when I read this was that if we all believed in God
our ashes might mean something and above all tell us why we are here but alas….

Jacob your poetry has become deeply philosophical and I emphasize deep. The metaphor here is deep enough by itself but it is spread with possible word play "till planted" I picture the tilling of the ground in planting, or is it till from until? It is all summed up in the last stanza
"then ashes
might tell a much better tale." My mind will ponder this one for a while.
