Cast those feelings aside

I write poetry

as deep as

a puddle

on concrete

that scarcely wets

the sole of a shoe

as it steps through life

gamboling with fate

afraid of

nothing

everything

time running out

splashing across a frame

of a movie

slashing the liquid compliance

of what we are

even when we are not

pools of serenity

as deep as

I write poetry.

‘pools of serenity
as deep as
I write poetry.’

Beautiful lines above Jacob !

Your poems are like a living pool of
Life from tadpoles to whales and jellyfish your pool of poems are the deepest
Even seaweed would do well in your pool everyone needs a swim in your ocean pool
I’m raving now aren’t I

It’s ok 👍
Jacob,

Not to fuss or argue, but your poetry has a much more profound impact upon your readers than you may well realize ... For lack of prettier words or better terms, you are a gifted philosophical artist that speaks all that needs be said beautifully and quite elegantly, in my personal opinion's book ... Enjoyed, this poem very much

Those are very kind words, Marve.
Thank you,

This is beautiful! I can't help equating the feeling of your poem to the movie Babylon, which so many hated and loved (I loved it, despite the shock value that so many accused it of) for me, it all comes down to art, expression and human understanding and I think you did it beautifully... I love the lines, "Afraid of/nothing/everything"

You write poetry that is a lot deeper than this.. The irony here is not lost on me.

I really wonder sometimes, but thank you Ken...that is kind of you to say,

Very well written! The way you compare your passion for your work and how simple you think your works seem, as well as the flawless transitions, are worthy of notice. As a personal message: whether it is deep or not, all writing is valuable. And may the serenity you gain serve you well! ;3

Of course, your poetry is a lot deeper than that describe in this one. I think also that we all are afraid of time running out, and very few are pools of serenity nearly as deep as your writing.

Wow Jacob, that was deep man! Well deeper than than me, who can only imagine an oceanic puddle like what you just said.
And your ending, as deep as you write poetry, is brilliant!
I write poetry, as deep as a scotch mist puddle, with scotch mist being a term for something that isn't really there. 😊

I love this, this is relatable as someone that writes and is getting older, I would say old but I don't think either of us are quite there in my opinion and I have nursed the elderly so I think I can fairly judge that. I am always astounded how profound you can write with such few words, very powerful poetry with a very powerful ending. Excellent!

I don't think either one of us is getting old, Patricia...we are just coming into form.

So are and so not, so often. I find shallow pools in my brain. Odd thoughts. Thanks for a thoughtful poem, Jacob.
