he's money

he's money

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

he's money

a turn of the head
a slippery breeze
the aim true
then the lie happens

on the ground
perplexion and chaos
someone shouts "down"
there is death in the sunshine

the podium stands empty and aloof
confusion has the best seat in the house

empty votes
a reconsideration of love
there is none in this state
of hate.

Very surprised that an assassination attempt had not happened before now! Insanity seems to rule the day! Days will grow as dark as night if he is re-elected, the world as we know it will become an alien world of death and destruction. There can be no doubt of that! A well expressed poem, finely penned and to the point. Thank you for sharing, Jacob. You present much food for thought...

Most welcome, Jacob. Thank you for sharing...
Great title for this piece and one of the results cash flow response following the raised fist and the war cry of fight fight fight. I truly thank God he was not killed , but there will be no humility gratitude and graciousness to follow in appreciation of the mercy received. Appreciate your work to appraise what occurred. -carl

Politics and its inhabitants build a fire then wait for someone to light it - and he did. Must have been a pretty bad shot, but then was young and presumably inexperienced in the slaughter stakes. Wonder why the proposed victim didn't have more heavies standing around him? In fact, I understand there are quite a few questions yet to be asked. Is a shocking world.

Your writing is always finely worded, Jacob. Although your metaphors are without blurs or blots, you manage to put the 'case' in a way that invites the reader to read at least twice. I did

Another assassination attempt. It’s not the first and I doubt it will be the last. What hatred there is about. What division. I fear for the future of politics J. Both where you are and over here.

terrible division and there is no quotient that feels a solution...

Joe Biden was quick to say this is not the way we do things in American politics. He has evidently forgotten Aaron Burr, Alexander Hamilton, Abraham Lincoln, James Garfield, George Wallace, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, John and Bobby Kennedy and Ronald Reagan and that's not even the complete list of American political figures who have either been assassinated or had attempts made on their lives. It comes with the job. Even Margaret Thatcher as leader of the U.K. and other political figures across the globe have suffered this sort of violence. And it goes back at least as far as Caesar. Et tu, Brute?

Jacob this one seems on the surface a description of the Trump attempt but goes deeper. How does such an event aid in an election? Does it gain support? Can it be concocted for such a purpose. I loved the imagery of "turn of the head", "slippery breeze", "the lie happens" The last stanza is the most frightening and powerful.

A failed assassination attempt; events can happen fast. Reminds me of Reagan at one time.
I think this event will help him get reelected among other factors of the senility of the other.
America is surely going through interesting times if not dangerous.
