Charlie, the Dragon Poet

 

one crooked Tuesday late

I drank too much Bukowski

got mean with the pen

 

slapped a few syllables around

just for s***s and grins

threw the bottle against the wall

 

broke the poem to smithereens

woke up the next morning

still smashed

 

and found I had written an entire book

of blues poems 

that hurt my hungover eyes to read.

Wow and woe. I get mean with frustration ofttimes too when I mostly don't get nowhere with a poem and I find it's 5 or 6 meany ones down and I don't even remember. A good one on the writers block for me at least.

Oh how many times I have sat down to write and felt like smacking the words till they bleed the tone I wanted to express XD
Silly words always mocking and flitting about!

Wow! Sometimes we destroy a newly penned poem and rebuild it from scratch. Charlie now knows that too much Bukowski is not a good idea and he will be more moderate in future. However, how amazing to wake up next morning and find that he had written a whole new book of blues poems! What a surprise that was! Well worth the hangover! Wonderful metaphoric write, finely ink and well expressed. Love the imagery which painted a great picture of Charlie's antics while under the influence of Bukowski.
