The Leader of the Free Fish

the beats had
          their own pronouns:

Hipster, far-out man

the Dude's writing again.
poetry stuck in his beard
like crumbs of leftovers
Mouth agape with words
almost emerging with diction
his tongue wagging the flag

Oh America
         I Loved you once
but now
         I don't know where
I live

                 that old block
                          became a throwaway pronoun
like "it" or "its" or
"it's"really something how
we have turned on each other
like angry Piranhas
destroying an already corpse
that America has become

         fish food---
Chub for the sharks

a Mandolin plays sad
as a nation corkscrews itself
           into oblivion's eddy

the wasteland president
is dumpster diving
into a lake of black water
a Blind man swallowing sand
and flags and other countries
in a monotony of surprises
day in and day out

he is a hipster, a far-out man
a dude writing again
who has no alphabet
to "bet" from
but gladly gambles
feeding the sharks with
recklessly proseful fingers.

Thanks, Jim,

Jackson Browne - Lives in the Balance and Tom Petty - Power Drunk this is where the two meet. --- yeah certainly the boat we find ourselves in - "carest thou not that we perish..." - but then on the other hand - "you had this coming suckers..." This could very well be the Death of Democracy. Corporations have been in the assent for quite a while and now the new name is applied UCA United Corporations of America - and it's too late for The Who - We Won't Get Fooled Again - love your work always - carl

time will tell. in a two-party system, one man's heaven is inevitably another one's hell. maybe the problems of this century, or any century, cannot really be solved by politicians.

I think you are correct....the problems can't seem to be solved by politicians.
thank you, La.. read more
These days you're either a member of the bourgeoisie or the proletariat. It's strictly capitalism against Marxism and it has never been better defined by its outlines. The extreme liberal left of pseudo-socialists like Bernie Sanders who claim to want equality for others while owning three houses and having a net worth in the millions don't mind giving your wealth (if you have any, not many do these days) away so long as they get to keep their wealth gleaned through political maneuvering like taking kickbacks from Big Pharma of which Sanders was the single largest recipient just last year raking in well over a million from them. I never was much of a communist myself and the so-called "wokeness" of American culture these days I find utterly disgusting. So easy to spot the pink, purple, green haired members with pieced tongues and eyebrows and face tattoos who have zero self-respect and an insane look in their eye. I cling to more conservative and sensible values for me and my children. Capitalism has been good to me, having worked hard for everything I have ever had in my life and earning my way through steady employment. "There is no free lunch." Someone always pays.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Fabian,

ButJacob, how does he tell what fish are American and what are illegal migrants? 😃
If its any solace I don't recognise where I live now either. We have a labour government now, which is the nearest thing to democrats, but they are even worse than the conservatives (Republicans) with their taxes on everything and forcing us to pay for the many errors the last Conservative government made.
I've just taken a leaf out of theTrumpet's book and classed them all as fake news, without any evidence whatsoever... just like him!
