A Saturday Morning Rhyme

the skin starts sagging
the brain starts lagging
filtered life
of selective attention
with little or no retention
but love still touches my heart
even as we are forever apart.

I filter my life through coffee grounds like T.S. Eliot's Prufrock. But it does make a bit jittery at times. We do hold onto memories. I enjoyed.

I get lucky sometimes.
Thank you, Patricia.
No matter what the outer shell looks like, we are still the same people inside. If the love is real, it never dies. I liked the rhyming in this one. Lydi**

Those hearts do take a pounding, but for some reason do not burst when full, no matter how it feels that they do.
The rest of your words I recognise too Jacob...all too well! 😃

Jacob,
The thing I like about little poems is they sparkle like diamonds, double-refractive with unexpected flashes of color...
This one will get me through the day...
