the ticking of fools

the ticking of fools

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

the ticking of fools

a rash of bad timing

leaves ugly scars

for training

hearts to wed strangers

then divorce in the morning

before the tears can well up to the sun

burn eyes that blinded themselves

with false love

before the hour hand

got in line.

Oh dear j, the phrase act in haste repent at leisure comes to mind. I think many can understand and have lived this. Timing is everything. It is so hard on the one who loves, easy for the free and easy of spirit.

A total head scratcher...
Only time and sacrifice can measure love. i.e. who stays and does the work needed to make things work. That's my belief anyway, for what it's worth.

Welcome friend
False love, especially when coupled with impulsivity, can lead to extremely bad timing and worse choices. Regret is the result.

You are so correct, John...in a rash we dash into love and then just as fast we dash out of it.
Love lasts even if via memory and - forever as forever lasts

These days, love is expressed within seconds but its message is 'ergo - and in all honesty, who needs love?' That because lust uses three of the other vowels so - who needs over-state the obvious !

thanks,

Love blinds and makes fools of us all and impatience leads to imprudence cousin to rashness and it seems that with regret and unhappiness one big incestuous family join for the reception. What a wonderful poem Jacob it speaks to me.

Thank you for your kind review, Soren.

I hear the Big Ben tolling in the distance.
The fool said in his heart there ain't a God.
He who does not love has no heart.
Be joyful and have a fresh start.
