circuitous journey as infinity breathes down our throat

circuitous journey as infinity breathes down our throat

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

circuitous journey as infinity breathes down our throat

the burden of secrets

many years kept

a yellow heart

calls itself coward

blood red retraction

of something never said

just a somber guilt bred

into growing pains

but sometimes we

cannot go back

and the elephant in the room

is no longer capable

of sleight of conscience

tricks.

Don't our mistakes go round and round in our mind never really finding a solution just tormenting. Love that word circuitous.

Thank you J, not many would say that here lol.
All that water under the bridge. Once it has passed, it will never return. I reflect and so wish I had said more instead of assuming. Lovely metaphors here j.

I have often wished the same, Chris.
Thank you for your words.

Wow! A wonderful set of metaphors here and they seem to ring true often blaming ourselves for things never said. Memory distorts and we attribute past issues to our character. So much in this piece. It is hard for that elephant to do magic anymore.

Past guilts can weigh heavily on our present thinking; unanswered dillemas, situations, painful events.
We all seek answers , sometimes we do find, other times it is circles around to no avail.
We all need closures.

Jacob,
I've been there... hauling around a fist sized rock made of words I should nave never said. It is a kind of inconvenience to be strolling along, thinking of other things, but there it is, and you can't put it dow not on purpose, anyway... man, we're built funny! Then you finally try to make it right, and they have no idea what you're talking about...

As infinity breathes down our throats, the past becomes so alive and vivid...I feel your words, relate to them and absolutely love them. Amazing poetry!

Once the landmines are planted...those devices just stay there and wait to go off.

What was said or done in the past, hangs in the air, pervades thought, space and emotion. There's little or no way of erasing it, its a shadow that hides in dark corners and - it hurts.

If I've understood correctly - or near enough, your words have crossed an ocean and landed safely.
