always the edge

always the edge

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

always the edge

ice melted a little

during her life

warm arms

embraced her seldom

a catastrophic youth

direction south

love went north

she was loved in a God way

but heaven is such a reach

she never felt the touch

the clouds lingered

in tearful respect

the impasse swollen

over the years

she wept

for the child

she never got to be

and as she aged

the adult wept

with her.

You are the greatest, jacob.

Much love.
You are very welcome.
So sad and forlorn that even the love of God doesn't seem much help. That's a heart wrenching state.

Thank you for your understanding words, Fabian.

Heartbreaking character study. Too many children are never allowed to just be kids....just have fun. They are given adult responsibility at a young age. The world rests on their shoulders and they know things will never get better. So sad. Have to tell you the font on your recent poems is a bit too small for me to read...maybe I need new glasses! This is beautifully captured Jacob, but so immensely sad at the same time.
The girll that never got to be became a woman that never forgot the sadness of that, which followed her throughout life.
Superbly captured.

A lost chilhood hurts forever. You feel the sadness in her soul and through your words, the reader feels it too. Angels often weep on earth. God loves them but for reasons unknown, let's them weep. Beautifully written, my friend.
