it never came to fruitionA Poem by jacob erin-cilbertoit
just never came to fruition i
am screaming within
this writer's block but
only echoes come back to me no
one can hear outside the block maybe
a few who are on the other side of me writing
is like putting bricks together to build a house the
more complex the poem, the more rooms in the house even
several bathrooms if the rhyme is clever enough maybe
a parlor for guests to rest between
lines i
offer refreshments themes
to quench a thirst for
good poetry but right
now i
scream from within myself i
am a concrete scam a
terrible host not
a decent brick to
lay just
an egg to set on the stoop of
a house that was just a hopeful project before
the idea disappeared like a broken yoke as
if the building permit was
denied. erin-cilberto 6/11/25 © 2025 jacob erin-cilbertoReviews
