Slip-ons and Slip-ins

Slip-ons and Slip-ins

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Slip-ons and Slip-ins

a beautiful poet

lives in a shoe of incredible traction

her words lace others' thoughts

tightly wound in love and possibility

footprints of rendering interpretations

follow in unique step

her words walk steadily

our minds embrace heel to toe

and we walk along side

of her poems

wanting to hold hands

with her inspiration

she has several pair

and I just want to be

an insole

in one of them.

I didn’t know this was written about your friend; I just thought you were admitting to a foot fetish.

I’m sure I would. My foot observation was my attempt at humor, btw. I hope it was taken as such.read more

Definitely taken as humor...I got a smile from it.
She is indeed an inspirational poet and I have Salt Lick Prayer in my library of poetry. A wonderful tribute j to your friend Lesley Brower. So pleased you introduced her work to me. An endearing write, such warm poetic expression.

Splendidly spake, Syr Jacob👌

I've known many a beautifully skilled, soul-blessed poetesses, but I'm not certain any of them quite approach the level of resplendence you attribute to yours … doth thou mayhap adore with a smitten bard's heart? She must be the epitome of poetic splendor for such an accomplished poet as yourself to hold her in such towering favor … perhaps, many a bard's dream muse? 🤔

Whoever she might be, it is no secret how amply I admire your use of poetic voice and metaphoric brilliance in bringing to life whomever you address or whatever creative theme you allow your pen to follow … this one, no different in that sense.

Especially well done, My Friend … I'd love to meet her.
Always happy to share your art! ⁓ Richard🖌

("along side of her poems" vs. "alongside her poems" caught my eye … just a thought)

Oh,
And, now I understand your poem much-much better. : )
I couldn’t quite help thinking of that saying “walk a mile in my shoes and you find out who I am” . Something like that. Probably, the closest one could get to know a person of this poetic calibre. Anyway a fine write J.

Actually, a heel wouldn't be half bad, either.

Whoa! Now you lost me with living in a shoe, but I do appreciate the imagery and the details which comes with great emotion, to do bring the words in 3 step together in one sentence hey I'm reading, lol I had to stop at the ending, that's food for thought,
Thank you for sharing.

Jacob!
This isn't just a fabulous, imaginative metaphor, it is a Champion! "I love you like the inside of an old loafer!" And it WORKS!
