Unleashing Secrets

Unleashing Secrets

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Unleashing Secrets

a bouquet

of intimate roses

crimson scent of love

afterglow in bloom

we share a garden

of seed

where new flowers

germinate to roam

family in petals

a circle of beauty

the small fence failing

nearness of ancestry

noted

by the few roses

left unshut.

J., Yes, family is important...you are a romantic. I feel there is more here.
Unleashing Secrets...there are secrets I will take to my grave.
You are a poet, for sure.

Thank you for your words, Eternity.

A visit to a family grave. That is what I feel in your words j. Freshly placed roses, the nearness of family visiting. Closed roses take time to open. I love this poem. In my mum’s chest of old photos, I found one of the Watkin’s family grave in Mortlake, London. I plan to visit. The resting place of many family, I never knew, but heard stories about and have photos.

And I need to get to my parents' grave as well, Chris. Thank you for sharing.

I love the way you portrayed roses as bearing secrets, aside from the scent of emotion and colours. There's such beauty of thought in this poem.

"by the few roses
left unshut."

~ That line is really fascinating.

Thank you, Divya,
j.
The first stanza is like a bouquet of flowers

The rest is like an expression of a family tree.
