Autopsy

Autopsy

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Autopsy

time of death

was the time you left

o'clock written in frost

on the pane

in my heart

in the pane

on my heart

the window is still open

just in case

you might alter

time of death

to

time of life.

Hi J., Sorry I blocked everybody when I saw the note that the site would not last a year.
But I'm learning to persevere.
When one window closes, others open.
Your poem reminds me of that.
Always look up so you don't miss whatever's coming your way.
You're a wonderful poet.

The shift from “time of death” to “time of life” lands quietly but powerful. I wish I could alter that too but time is cruel and show no mercy on anyone.
Amazing hopeful write.

The return of love is like a return of life. It feels so magical. And sometimes, these things happen. I loved the beautiful word play in this poem! The title is autopsy but its about life!

Yes. Perhaps, given more time, there wouldn’t have been the need for it.

I suppose pane could substitute for pain. I've known that feeling of leaving the door of hope unlocked. Love hurts like hell sometimes.
