Meow

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Meow

a wry smile

the feline poised

to jump

the blind canary

who felt her intention

sang a tune

of distraction

then flew back into her cage

shut the door

and died of old age.

I appreciate your interconnectedness to nature and life. This poem in particular is fascinating in that it has such a strong passage of time, which is also what makes the conclusion so striking. Well done

Thank you for seeing that connection, Brad.

I laughed at the end of this. What a lovely way to bring levity and fun to art.

LOL. I like the thought of a blind canary outsmarting the feline. ~Jim

Jacob,
Not me! I'll never let death take me alive! Ya hear that, Death? Ill ride my motorcycle off a cliff before you can catch me! Or more probably be run over by an old woman in a Buick from a side street. "Officer! I never saw him! He came outta nowhere!"
I always knew that's were I'd come from, so I guess it's just logical that's where I'd return...

I love this, it's like the underdog winning, or in this case the under-bird, bravo.

We should all be as wise as the blind canary when measuring the intent of our antagonists and just close the door on that. Purrhaps.
