Electives

Electives

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Electives

hipsters, pranksters

and posters

dorm worms

slithering magic tricks

born of tradition

studious booze hidden

with towels sheltering

the scent emerging

under doors

quelling the noise

of the gulps

and yelps

as textbooks lie ajar

black light the only

glow

minds set to the task

of avoiding serious study

as we sit half-drunk

studying the poster

for hours

until we pass out

from the 80 proof

certainty

the only course

we won't fail

is part of

an extra-curricular

curriculum.

Ha! This one really makes me wish I'd gone to college
I guess I'll just have to consider my life outside of work my 'extracurriculars'

Sounds like a blast :D Maybe I'll sign up for a class next semester, see if I want to go any futher
I had a 4.0 in those extracurricular curriculums. I think they were the only A's I got during that sophomore year. I flunked out, and it took a whole year of night courses to get back in. For us, that towel at the bottom of the door was the help keep the aroma of mary jane from getting out. No one cared about the booze.

So I have you to thank Jacob, for this wonderful trip down memory lane. Oh, to be young and stupid... er... I mean to be young and hung over... er... oh to be... what was I saying???

Loved the poem Jacob

Good times! Extra curricular curriculum.... electives. Spot on, hilariously accurate you are. Its one of those evenings where you or I are in complete denial, telling ourselves we make partake of a bit but we will get studying done. Then enter the philosophizing and sharing of stories. I like that- Textbooks lie ajar... lie is right.

Thanks for the amusing review, Brad. Those days for me were so long ago, I hardly remember them.

Absolutely! Keep the memories alive lol
You painted such an amazing picture of dorm drinkers. So typical of college days - The sneaking in of the booze, the concealing and the hiding. Yet nothing could prevent the escapades from being given away the next day - the smell would be distinct and so too the eyes. Such a vivid and beautiful portrayal of youth and its extra-curricular fun!

We were pretty stupid back then, but most of us still made something of ourselves.
