Ride

Ride

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Ride

i am in awaitment

of a turning

ice age cavemen

ruling like flat wheels

hoarding campfires

the torches not for vagrants

Elite clubs

swung at defenseless beggars

the streets will melt

and pain will be felt

as the mighty are prone

to extinction

wooly mammoths will stop

for the poor humans

and carry them to heaven

i am in awaitment

my thoughts woolgathering

I would like to live to see it all happen

but I may be extinct

before the moment

and unfortunately,

i can't take the matches with me.

I like the line "as the mighty are prone to extinction" its true, no matter how long it takes, the powers that be fail and the 'mighty' are worse off than the 'weak'

If you can't take the matches with you then you better burn it down before you go. ~Jim

Another great write I have read this evening. No wonder you teach; you have mad skills beyond compare. I write and read poetry as an escape from my life's trauma (Of which there are many). I wish I had known you while hosting my spoken word art radio show.

Dear J. i too am awaiting the woolly mammoths, to save me but i’m afraid i may not live that long…yet now we must live in the ice age⛄️⛄️ with all those elite clubs 🤓

I think we must be on the same bus, J. I have a window seat. You seem to also. I'm thinking of pulling down the curtain though. The view isn't pleasant.

And I think the driver just got off.
Thank you, Winston.

Having a good idea what the metaphor is I could not agree more. Are those flat wheels referring to a Tesla? Extinction may be the answer by hook or by crook some have tried and failed there may be enough sense to stem the tide who knows. Time will tell and in the mean time we are in awaitment. A fine write my friend and can start a fire without matches or a butane lighter.

Your poem reminds me of that old Chinese saying: 'the Emperor can light a thousand fires, the peasants can't even light a flame.' The problem is that there will be no 'wooly mammoths or humans, if we remain in "awaitment". Our time must be now to rid the earth, first of that caveman and then to create that "heaven" but on earth. Oh, by the way, I have plenty of matches ready to go!!!

Loved the poem Jacob!
