Lovely Beasts

Lovely Beasts

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto
"

I don't do prompts ordinarily, but did this one. The first line had to be somewhere in the poem, care of Robert Frost.

"

Lovely Beasts

The Woods are lovely, dark and deep

as your eyes

enticing me

to step into that glazed forest

of fertile wonder

trusting instincts

a compass of confidence

that these woods are safe

and you will hold onto me

when the darkness might be overwhelming

I would love you if you were only dark and deep

lovely is just a transition that loses

its glow when looks are gone

and substance counts

let us enter

confidently

and walk forever hand in hand

feeling our way among the mighty oaks

imagining our love is just as strong

as those majestic beasts

watching over us.

I had to google that Jacob , new one on me :)
and you will hold on to me
when the darkness might be overwhelming

this is truly a wonderful love poem j. It speaks to me of a forever love. Strong, enduring, whatever life throws at it. Those sturdy oaks in their majesty, such a fine comparison, so reassuring. I love this poem, a truly memorable piece.

...lovely is just a transition that loses its glow when looks are gone and substance counts..
Bottom line for me: beauty isn't surface deep.
When you truly love a woman, she might not have the glamour of a model or beauty queen but in your heart of hearts, she's the most beautiful soul in the world.
Glamour and cosmetic beauty fades but true love endures

It's a breathtaking poem

What a wonderful love poem, Jacob. I love how this flows, how it focuses, not only or mainly on the beauty , the surface of your loved one, but on what is substantial and lasting, what is the essence of her. In todays world when glamor, and looks, when puffed-up ego and shallowness are promoted, your poem is a breath of fresh air!!! Kudos Jacob, kudos!!

Indeed, dark and deep more than suffice, and lovely tends to be fleeting. ~Jim

The enchanted forest yes dark and deep but the moon must have been your blessing to those eyes, love how the words blend in as one reads, maybe it was the night light that blinded you unable to see the same, yet you see what inside because its heart that shine in the darkness.
