Poets in Gossamer Beds

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

Poets in Gossamer Beds

tarantula tantrum

legs unhinged

the web torn apart

Home is no longer a resting place

the flies quit knocking on the door

spun fun undone

hearts crawling with sticky feet

he's coming for us

he'll thread the needle

and then sting us with

his venomous smile.

Perhaps the usual pathologies of vampire sights, and grievances imparted by werewolves, have much to owe to certain tetherings of the human soul, and we mustn't forget the very inspiration of mania, to have sensed the sun twisting in rage and orange froth.

I was reminded of Arachne too, and i felt there was such subtlety in how you portrayed "dark empath" terminals.
The brevity strengthens this piece, in a sense i guess. A lot of deconstruction too

Good stuff,
Degare

Such vivid imagery as always, dear poet! Though this is a darker and more unsettling picture you have painted this time! “Tarantula tantrum legs unhinged", is such a menacing opening, but leads perfectly to the disruption of peace and pattern you go on to describe, a sense of being vulnerably exposed to outside threat.

This poem was recommended to me and I cannot tell you how thankful I am that it was. You have always been masterful at your craft, but this poem, to me, hit a little harder.

This can be applied to so much, but like many, I apply it to the website we are on. Its been a home, a comfort, for so long, but we can only take so much before the web becomes too much and we will no longer be the flies knocking at the door. I have wondered if the spider in question within this poem was about a certain mod we all know, cuz I think it would fit. Coming for us with a venomous smile before taking away all the work we've ever done.

However, I could absolutely see this work also fitting within a political or personal climate. Either way, whatever you had in mind while writing it, it is expertly done and settles so well in the chest. I loved reading this from start to finish. A perfect recommendation, and Im so thrilled to have had the honor to read it.

Yes the webs are a force of nature I still hate spiders though
Hiii J,

Spiders are such wondermus creatures. The patience they have for spining their webs and capturing their prey.

Very playful poem and it reminded me how precious life is on this earth.

Thanks for sharing

Tarantula Starmer, has already stung us with his web of lies .... and he lets unfamiliar and poisonous spiders into our homes.
