Your poem blooms with quiet solitude—flowers as guardians, the porch as sanctuary, and writing itself as the truest companion. It feels both inviting and protective, like a garden that thrives best in stillness
I love your metaphoric flower distractions J or are they really?.... and maybe others too, but you must buckle down and be productive... "admire my garden...but please don't knock"....humorous I would say...
a bloom for a flower, a bloom for inspiration....to write!!
Warmly, B

Thank you for your words, Betty.
I just keep on trying.

ssshhhhhhuuuuush, Jacob is working, typing away, in a trance with his metaphors. Curt quietly backs off the front porch, but cannot resist the urge to pick some flowers, one of each to put in a vase and decorate the desk where I write my poetry. The Tiger Lily has caught my eye and out came a haiku:
Tiger Lily speaks
colors the world with sunshine,
Jacob, stop writing!
Tiger Lily's are quite persistent you know. They demand attention, to be adored, perhaps even needing a metaphor or two. I know this cause I was talking to the ones guarding your porch and front door. Anyway, thanks for the flowers and the very short visit.

Okay, then back to work. That keyboard is also demanding. It's a crazy world, isn't it Jacob.
I often find interactions with the outside world need to be put on hold while I am in a truly productive writing mode (which is not all that often lately). I like the use of the flowers as almost a distraction to the fact that, in the end, "We have work to do.". Always more work. ~Jim
Ah those beautiful scented and coloured flowers, they can be such a distraction though it is clear your work is priority
j. I would say this is a warning to anyone who wants to get too close, that you have work to do. A gem of a poem.
The work in question being madness and who have birthed tusks of gardens that make up for our own clauses of invisibility.
"Work to do":To me that sounds almost breathless, and reminds me more of Frost's ("have miles to go before I sleep), but with such deliberate contrast.
Tiger lilies definitely have the ability to electrocute your eyes.
Yeah, this one is really powerful.

Your reviews are so insightful. Thank you Degare.
p.s. your review is better than the poem.
I absolutely adore your poems, Jacob. I really do! They are always so interesting and different, with wee unexpected gems and unique word choices littered in. You are one of a kind, so keep ignoring those would be callers will ya?
