A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

flowers in bed with inspiration

a collection of Zinnias

on my front porch

more a garden with steps

and Morning Glories posted

as sentinels

and fiery Tiger Lilies

zapping the eyes

of all who dare tread intimately

oh, I like people

and their unextended visits

once in a while

but like a bud, not yet open

I thrive on the shelter of my own company

I write, the sound of keys heard by the world

through my screen door

a bloom in progress

we can have a quick "hello,

how are you?"

but my keyboard will whisper in my ear

"we have work to do."

So, admire my garden

with steps for as long as you persevere

but please don't knock.

I have work to do.

As writers, we are so engrossed with our own thought, the next poetic work...Here is that Bukowski Infinite spoke of:
"Oh, the further I am from the human race, the better I feel.
Even though I write about the human race. The further away I am from them, the better I feel.
Two inches is great.
Two miles is great.
Two thousand miles is beautiful.
As long as I am able to eat.
They feed me because I feed them.
But I don't like to be near them.
When somebody even brushes against me with an elbow in a crowd I react.
I do not like the human race.
I don't like their heads.
I don't like their faces.
I don't like their feet.
I don't like their conversations.
I don't like their hairdos.
I don't like their automobiles.
I don't like their dogs or their cats or their roses."
- Charles Bukowski
(Yep, I thought of it, too! I guess we all are Birds Of A Feather.))

Good morning Jacob, This one reads like a Bukowski I read just before coming here.
I love the way your garden of protectors lure the eye
just before the typer growls, "Stay Away!"
I watch the world from my corner where I sit and type all day.
They look busy, interesting, yada-yada...Just stay away.
I love your work. So thought provoking.

Thank you for your very kind words, Infinite.

Wonderfully expressed piece ;-] I truly understand these words as I am a bit of a loner. I think I spend too much time alone maybe. I write my words to understand myself as best I can.

I think as poets, we lay it out there more for ourselves than others....then we share.
