Fender Bender

for my friend Ash Blair...I have never seen anyone play with such passion but such ease. You can find her if you google Ash Blair. She has many videos of her playing. Fender sponsors her.

Fender Bender  

 

 

compose an October riff 

on your guitar

with shades of red, gold and orange

let the strings

create the rustle of falling leaves

the sounds of darkness arriving earlier

a cool tilt to the air

 

flannel shirts and light jackets

passing each other

on the sidewalks

filled with fall lovers

holding hands, an inkling of shivering

but dancing to the sounds

of your guitar

as you

 

compose an October riff.

Jacob, your poem is beautiful and I am glad you showed it to Ash (your comment below). I like how you weave Autumn and its colors into the "riff" of a Blues song. Fitting I think for the nature of the Blues and the season. Love can be found here.

And thank you for the heads up on Ash, she is brilliant and so creative with her guitar. The way she plays reminds me of seeing Jimi play. The magic just jumps off the strings.

Such imagery here! Autumn can be very much like a musical feast. At least, autumn somewhere besides Alabama. We just have a second summer interspersed with leaves turning brown and falling off the trees! My daughter is learning the guitar. I will mention the videos to her. They sound amazing.
