A Vest of Many Colors

A Vest of Many Colors

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

A Vest of Many Colors

floppy hat

eyes just a bit off center

enamel smile

talent filling slightly crazy shoes

tears emoted

fears trapped in those tears

she was our lives

she was our insecurities

she was our amazement

on the screen

we say her humanness

harnessed in her roles

we were lucky to be current with her

we knew something's gotta give

and finally it did

the grim reaper lassoed the actress

and we reaped from her insecurities

Annie Hall, we love you

rest your head on our shoulders

the poets will hold you up.

Yes, Jacob, we will hold her up. Diane K was a treat, a rare human being who showed us how to be human. We have lost several actors, musicians, etc., this year. But none as special as she was.

Thank you, Jim.

Interesting. I marvel at those who feel intense connection with celebrities. It's not something I've experienced, although I felt much the same when Queen Elizabeth II died. This is such a positive, uplifting tribute of someone who meant a great deal not just to you but to many people. Thank you for expressing your thoughts.
