The scene set becomes quite gloomy, scary, haunting.....and unfortunately we (the American citizens) are living through it right now! are we tied to religion? I thought there was a law passed for separation of church and state! Using the owls is a great metaphor...for we know that silence is creepy and the owls (Courts) are the deciders... and too many secrets fly around....when will the shutdown be over???
Warmly, B

There's nothing like a government shutdown to find out where politicians really stand. Their "requiems" are just finger pointing and blame. The "owls" of the Supreme Court have said little, and the "liaisons," or deals between the parties are masked attempts to gain supremacy.

Jacob,
Wonderful imagery... Everybody quit, folks today don't really understand the image of a lighter and cigarette in the dark, but I've seen it all my life, fired up for 38 years... but in our cloud of near awareness time rolls, and the evil conspire, and the church falls down.

Yes, all of that happening all at once.
Thank you, Vol.

Jacob, "Dusk is creepy" gives a hint this work is going to present things that are not so nice.
Yes, everything from the creatures to nature, itself seems to feel this "something in the air".
It's so great knowing that no matter what "man" devises, God already knows.
He will win.
Great as always. Thanks for posting.
Jacob, this feels like if democracy were a forest and the trees decided to hold their own secret meeting under moonlight. The owls filed a motion for silence, the deer seconded it, and the leaves-burnt but loyal- took notes in rustle-speak. By the end, even reason forgot to raise its hand. I don’t know what law was passed here, but I feel its weight in the air. Brilliantly unsettling.
