God will soon Cross Examine

God will soon Cross Examine

A Poem by jacob erin-cilberto

God will soon Cross Examine

evil is a canary

on its perch

with black eyes

singing Culture Club's

"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me"

as its master with darker eyes

in orange feathers

holds arsenic seeds

slurs notes with madness as sheet music

a beak tattooed with transparency

yet as the slight parrot

watches from the witness stand

the canary molts truth

and succumbs

the song ceases

and real justice flies away

with heartbroken wing.

Jacob,
Have all of us Geezers become pessimistic... well, except for the nihilists who have always preferred the dark. It is the Western zeitgeist that we lose in the end... began here with Ragnarök, solidified in revelations, sworn in by religion... brought to pass by the woke and symbolized by Yeats' "Second Coming."
WE do live in interesting times...

"Do You Really Want to Hurt Me" This song goes perfectly with your words.
You've painted the scene, Jacob, and this is exactly how it feels. Evil being like a canary on a perch. Just watching. Waiting.

So true, with your final thought.
Sad, indeed.

It’s the kind of poem that lingers in your mind, like a shadow you can’t shake. The canary and parrot feel almost real, carrying the weight of truth and deceit, and it makes you think about how fragile justice really is. There’s a beauty in its darkness that sticks with you long after you’ve read it.
