Jacob for me this seems a thinly veiled jab at one that we all know but I won't say love. It fits as if a tailored suit and cobbler made shoes. Maybe it is just I and my projections and I hope I have not offended by putting them out there but like you I have not named the person. Very nicely written and cleverly done as well you have not left enough evidence to hold up in a court of law.

Bad dreams usually result in awakening and in destroying the bad dream relief.
This is the worse type of nightmare for me j, that the wicked go unpunished. That they actually benefit in the afterlife from their wickedness. That sends a shiver through me. I’ve always been a believer in karma. Had to look up the meaning of Potter’s field. A political write I believe.
Every line you write has absolute meaning, jacob sir, but in this poem you have mixed the words 'justice with irony and skilled writing. You instinctlvely know or are aware of the How about Life's tragedies and all.
'time lost
where the wicked go
free
hell is one big cocktail party
the drinks served
are retribution
for distribution
of justice
to the wolves.'
This is incredibly sharp, Jacob. It takes the familiar sorrow of the "Potter's Field" and transforms it into a devastating political statement. But the final stanza? It’s a masterpiece of dark comedy!
The image of "hell is one big cocktail party" is hilariously, bitterly perfect. It turns damnation into a lavish networking event. You’re not just saying the wicked go unpunished; you’re saying they get a VIP reward where they stand around sipping "retribution"...a kind of poison toast. And celebrating the death of justice. It feels like the most exclusive, utterly corrupt party in the universe, and we are left to watch the invitation list.
Bravo on finding such a witty, theatrical way to describe total despair!
